The Camper’s take
Updated June 2026
Enchanting riverside spot deep in forest with crystal-clear, refreshingly cold water and nearby hiking trails. Very narrow access with a critical bridge (~2.1 m wide). Quiet at night despite day visitors and fishermen. Multiple small, level parking spots. Fragile ecosystem — overcrowding risk and local tensions rising. Swimming not recommended.
Highlights
- Fairytale setting by a crystal-clear river
- Nearby waterfalls and hikes
- Absolute peace and quiet at night
- Multiple small, secluded spots in the forest
Good to know

- Growing tension with local residents
- Signs of disrespect (fires, debris, noise)
- Swimming not recommended (upstream treatment, foam)
Motorhome access : Very narrow and steep access, difficult to turn around. Critical bridge only 2.1 m wide—impossible for motorhomes over 2.15 m wide. Tricky maneuvering required. Road from Noirecombe is extremely narrow (1 km without passing spots). Only suitable for small vans and minivans.
