Col des Palomières alpine plateau at 730 m elevation, reached via rough track. Stunning 360° views, dramatic sunsets and sunrises. Very quiet at night in pastoral setting with grazing herds. Road access limited (stony terrain, unsuitable for large motorhomes). Water available at nearby café. Daytime foot traffic and hunting activity.
Highlights
- Stunning panoramic views and spectacular sunrises and sunsets
- Very quiet at night with a natural, pastoral vibe
- Flat grassy pitches at the top of the plateau
Good to know
- Very difficult road access: stony and narrow, not recommended for large motorhomes
- Risk of early-morning disturbances by hunters (October–November season) and hikers
- Partially sloped terrain, exposed to harsh weather at high altitude
Motorhome access : Very bumpy and steep path, only passable with small vans or 4x4s. Large campervans should avoid or park at the lower parking lot. Drive slowly, risk of undercarriage damage. Sign reads 'Vehicles enter at your own risk'.
