The Camper’s take
Updated June 2026
Free daytime parking (paid May-September: €4/5h or €7/day) roadside, 2 min from Mont-d'Or slopes and 5 min walk to Puy de Sancy cable car. Large, long spaces suitable for large vehicles. Waste bins available. No overnight parking (22h-7h forbidden). Mobile network access. Convenient for hiking but unwelcoming atmosphere toward campervans; closer P1 lot banned for motorhomes.
Highlights
- Wide and long pitches, no issues for large vehicles
- Easy access to hiking trails and the Sancy cable car.
- Free parking during the day (outside summer season)
Good to know
- No overnight parking (10 PM–7 AM), no legal alternatives nearby
- Hostile attitude toward campervans and converted vans
- Mandatory payment app with unreliable mobile network
Motorhome access : Very good: wide and long spaces (6 m confirmed with margin), flat terrain. However, P1 closest to the entrance is off-limits to motorhomes; must use this secondary P2. No difficult maneuvers but slightly out of the way.
