The Camper’s take
Updated June 2026
Small artisanal aire with 3-4 campervan spaces near the Saint-Quentin canal in Marcoing. Free services (water, electricity via street lighting, basic waste drainage) but rustic infrastructure: single tap, awkwardly positioned greywater outlet, tricky access grille. Quiet and tucked away, ideal for short stops. Note: water and electricity shut down 15 Nov–15 Apr. Space shared with trucks and long-term residents.
Highlights
- Completely free (water, electricity, waste disposal)
- Very peaceful setting away from the village
- Municipal services fully functional for short stays
Good to know
- Basic and poorly maintained infrastructure (leaking taps, inaccessible drainage for low vehicles)
- Shared space with trucks and permanent residents, tight for parking
- Electricity and water cut off for 5 months a year (Nov 15–Apr 15)
Motorhome access : Slightly sloped asphalt ground with easy access but limited spots and potential truck congestion. Easy maneuvering for 1-2 vehicles. Waste disposal grid tricky for low undercarriages.
