The Camper’s take
Updated June 2026
Free charming woodland area at Puy d'Ambroise with outstanding panoramic views. Essential facilities: pristine toilets, water point, electricity (2 sockets), picnic tables. Uneven, sloping terrain requiring levelling blocks. Exceptional municipal hospitality. Adjacent to GR3 hiking trail. Community stewardship essential to preserve this gem.
Highlights
- Stunning panoramic views over the valley and mountain ranges
- Very well-maintained toilets with free water
- Exceptional municipal welcome and completely free of charge
- Peaceful, shaded spot in the heart of nature
Good to know
- Very steep and irregular terrain, requires wheel chocks
- No black water or wastewater disposal
- Electricity at the bottom of the field (trade-off between shade and connection)
- Processionary caterpillars in season (health risk)
Motorhome access : Easy access but the ground is very steep and uneven; spots on the slope are prone to water and mud when wet. Maneuvering is simple with no barriers. Chocks are essential. Best stability under the pines.
