The Camper’s take
Updated June 2026
Campervan aire in the heart of the Charente estuary, 12 minutes walk from Port-des-Barques centre and 1 km from Passe-aux-Boeufs (gateway to Île Madame). Gravel terrain with no marked pitches. Mix of shaded and sunny spots. CAMPING-CAR PARK access €5 lifetime. Services partially functional; chronic maintenance issues (bins, water points, waste disposal), untrimmed branches, uneven ground condition.
Highlights
- Ideal location near Île Madame and Passe-aux-Boeufs
- Quiet at night, surrounded by nature
- Easy bike and foot access to local attractions
Good to know
- Very poor maintenance: overflowing bins, outdated facilities, clogged drains
- Poor terrain with potholes, mud, and puddles (especially off-season)
- Untrimmed tree branches blocking access to shaded spots
- Spots not delimited leading to chaotic parking
Motorhome access : Unmarked gravelled and earthy area with tricky maneuvering in peak season. Many potholes and muddy zones. Uneven entrance.
