The Camper’s take
Updated June 2026
Camping-car Park site in former municipal campground near Châteaudun castle, 2 km from town centre. Spacious, shaded grass pitches. Badge/code access required. CURRENTLY PROBLEMATIC: sanitary facilities temporarily closed (technical issues), numerous electrical pedestals non-functional, poor maintenance standards. Quiet, green setting when operational, but service reliability severely compromised. Around €13–16/night.
Highlights
- Very spacious and well-delimited pitches
- Peaceful, green and natural setting
- Close to the castle and city center (30 min walk)
Good to know
- Toilets closed due to technical issues, historically poor hygiene standards
- Defective electric hookups (missing sockets, no 6A outlets everywhere)
- Overall maintenance insufficient (untended grass, debris, difficult access)
- Complicated road access during roadworks
Motorhome access : Access via a badge barrier; maneuvering possible. Grassy ground that can get muddy when wet. Narrow access road sometimes obstructed by roadworks.
